The Kindergarten Trees!
As part of the extended French program at St. Francis of Assisi School, Mr. Gleason’s kindergarten classes have been learning about trees, or rather what they call “arbre” and what they do for the environment. Thus the idea of planting a tree for each of the kindergarten classes arose. Students were extremely excited to put what they learned into action and all the while using their French vocabulary, when discussing this tree project. After holding a successful raffle, by way of receiving help from parent council, surrounding businesses and a tree donation from Sunset Nursery, our idea became a reality. On May 18th all 60 of the kindergarten students were bussed to the new school, where each student lent a helping hand to plant our trees during the tree planting ceremony.
Students and parents ate lunch in the new yard and received a tour of the new school, giving students a sneak peak of where their learning will continue in the fall. Students enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with games and activities on the yard. They can’t wait to come back to their new school in September and watch their trees grow!
