The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce the redeployment of new principals at two of its schools, effective January 1, 2016.
Mary Catherine Brisco will become principal at St. Michael’s Catholic Elementary School in Douglas, replacing John Freemark who is retiring after 29 years with the Board.
Scott Nichol will replace Brisco as Principal at St. Andrew’s Catholic Elementary School in Killaloe. Nichol’s position as Vice-Principal at Our Lady of Sorrows in Petawawa will be filled at a later date.
“I am delighted with these two appointments,” said Director of Education Michele Arbour, as she also congratulated Principal Freemark on his retirement. “Both Mary Catherine and Scott have the necessary qualifications and experience to ensure an effective and faith-based educational journey for our students. We look forward to a smooth transition within these schools.”
Board Chair Bob Michaud applauded Principal Freemark’s service to the RCCDSB. “We greatly appreciate John’s dedicated leadership and commitment to our students and families,” Michaud said. “We wish him well in his retirement.”
Michaud added that both Brisco and Nichol “are strong leaders with proven expertise in supporting student achievement and engagement in our schools. We know that they will provide excellent leadership in our schools.”
Brisco has worked for the RCCDSB since 1989, including seven years as a principal.
Nichol has worked for RCCDSB since 2005, including six years as a vice-principal.
