It is a great pleasure for me to present our 2018-2019 Budget to you this evening. As a Catholic education system, we seek to provide a distinctive curriculum to nurture the giftedness, self-worth and potential of each student within safe environments that are characterized by warmth, hospitality, good humour and joy.
I think this $73 million Budget will ensure that we continue to provide the best education possible for all of our students across our Board while aligning with Our Vision, our strategic plan and Ministry of Education goals. This Budget will maintain a deficit within the Ministry of Education’s guidelines of one per cent. It also will ensure that the class sizes in our schools meet Ministry regulations.
Strong enrolment in our schools demonstrates that we are responding to the needs within our communities.
Our Board’s theme for 2018-2019, “reverence the dignity of the whole person,” is taken from our Vision Statement. We also continue to focus on the four pillars of our Strategic Plan: Wholeness and Wellness; Dignity and Belonging; Achievement and Potential; and Witness and Integrity. As a faith-based education system, we encourage our students to expand their hearts, souls and minds, and to reach their full potential through spiritual, intellectual, emotional and physical learning. And we are committed to 21st-century teaching and learning within a welcoming environment that encourages students to achieve their personal best.
