The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board prides itself on animating, as part of Our Vision, safe school environments characterized by warmth, hospitality, good humour and joy. This is best done when we are learning together in face-to-face community using all appropriate tools at our disposal, including on-line learning.
As we know, this is not currently possible with schools closed due to the COVID-19 state of emergency. Given this, in addition to the just-released Ministry of Education portal, Learn At Home, next week we will be engaging in conversation with our teachers, principals and vice-principals and support staff about how best to further support our learners using on-line resources. We know that not all learners have easy access to reliable internet and we know that we cannot simply flip a switch from a physical classroom-based environment to a 100% on-line learning environment. We also know that our teachers, administration and support staff have demonstrated tremendous leadership and insight in using digital learning as part of a student’s learning journey. We want to be sure we tap into that extensive knowledge and expertise. We look forward to doing what we can to keep continuity of learning happening, even while our primary focus is on ensuring everyone stays healthy.
It is our prayerful hope that families have had as restful a March break as possible during this extraordinary time. Please continue to heed the advice from medical authorities to stay safe and healthy. #bethehope
