The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board (RCCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new Superintendents of Educational Services to fill upcoming openings.
The first appointment to replace Mark Searson, who is moving into the role of Director of Education, will be filled by Clint Young beginning January 4, 2021.
Young has served as Principal of several RCCDSB schools over the course of his career with the RCCDSB, including Bishop Smith Catholic High School (2013-2019) and St. Michael’s Catholic School in Douglas (2019-present). He earned his Supervisory Officer’s Certificate in 2009.
He has held leadership roles in numerous school and system initiatives dating back to 2004, and is very active in his community and church, currently as a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Society Soup Kitchen, as reader/commentator at Our Lady of Lourdes and as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
In his new role, Young’s responsibilities will include Special Education, Safe Schools, Mental Health and Well-being, Healthy Schools, Health and Safety for Pupils and the Advanced Learners program, as well as Multi-disciplinary Team, Policy development and implementation and supervisory duties.
“Clint is a model of personal and professional commitment to Catholic education and to the Board’s mission. The leadership skills he has demonstrated over his career make him an ideal candidate and we welcome him to our administrative team,” stated Dave Howard, RCCDSB Chair.

In a second appointment, Heidi Fraser will replace retiring Superintendent of Education Elizabeth Burchat who has announced her retirement at the end of February 2021.
Among the responsibilities of her portfolio, Fraser will take on the K-6 Program, including the School Effectiveness Framework, Early Years, French as a Second Language, Summer School, EQAO, Learning Technologies, Environmental and Outdoor Education, Music and Dance Specialist Program.
Fraser has earned Special Education Specialist qualifications and will complete her Supervisory Qualifications courses in June 2021.
She has also held Vice-Principal and Principal roles with the RCCDSB since 2008, most recently as Principal of St. John XXIII, Arnprior (2010-2017) and Principal of St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Calabogie along with Principal of Special Education (2017-present).
In addition to participation on many school and systems committees, including Student Safety & Well Being During the Re-Opening of our Schools this summer, Fraser is a volunteer with the Local Catholic Principals Council Ontario (CPCO), Our Lady of Grace parish, and the Arnprior & District Minor Hockey Association.

Fraser says she is truly grateful to have been chosen as one of the successful candidates for the Superintendent of Educational Services position. “With a focus on faith and servant leadership, I look forward to working with all members in the RCCDSB community in order to positively impact the students we have all been called to serve.”
