After a busy fall successfully initiating its virtual learning school and implementing in-school pandemic protocols, the RCCDSB is managing a number of changes to its Board and senior administration team.
Following a mass celebrated by Bishop Guy Desrochers, the Board held its Inaugural Meeting and is pleased to announce the election of Bob Schreader as the incoming Chair of the Board. Schreader has served more than 30 years on the Board, including previous terms as Chair and Vice-Chair.
Outgoing Chair Dave Howard was selected to take on the role of Vice-Chair for the upcoming year.
With regrets, the Board also announced that Marlene Borutski, a 30-year veteran of the Board representing Killaloe, Hagarty & Richards Township, Brudenell, Lyndoch & Raglan Township, and Madawaska Valley Township, has resigned for health reasons.
Borutski’s role has been filled through the appointment of former Trustee Bob Michaud, who served on the Board from 2002-2018. Board Chair Bob Schreader noted that “We are very fortunate at this particularly challenging time to fill this vacancy with someone who has extensive experience as a trustee. We are grateful that Mr. Michaud accepted this appointment.”
Long-time Trustee Judy Ellis recently announced her retirement as of December 31, 2020. She was first appointed to the Board in 1997 by the Chief and Council to represent the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to extend sincere thanks to Judy and Marlene and wish them both the best as they depart after many years of outstanding service to the Board,” commented Schreader. We will continue to pray for Marlene’s health and wish Judy and long and happy retirement.
The 2020-2021 Board of Trustees will be working with newly appointed Director of Education, Mark Searson, in the new year with the impending retirement of current Director Jaimie Perry at the end of January 2021.
“I look forward, in my role as Chair, to working with our trustees, all of whom are are devoted advocates for our Catholic education system, and are dedicated to supporting students in reaching academic success and well-being. I am confident they will continue to lead and give witness to our vision to ‘love unconditionally, especially during this very difficult year” stated Schreader.
