Dear Students and Parents,
On December 21st, Premier Ford announced that Ontario will enter a period of enhanced public health restriction beginning at 12:01 a.m. December 26, 2020. Renfrew County has been captured under the restrictions applied to Southern Ontario and therefore the restrictions will be in place for 28 days. It is very important to note that schools and the education sector will be treated differently during this restrictive period. RCCDSB is still reviewing how the education sector will be impacted but so far, we can share the following information:
- Elementary and secondary students across RCCDSB will participate in remote learning from January 4 to January 8, 2021.
- Elementary school students will return to in-person learning on January 11, 2021. Please note this includes the students in grade 8 attending Bishop Smith Catholic High School and St. Joseph’s High School.
- Secondary school students will continue learning remotely until January 25, 2021, at which point they can resume in-person learning.
In addition to the work underway by our school teams, our board’s central support staff, including mental health, social workers, school and attendance counsellors and others will reach out to families and we stand at the ready to help as best we can during the period of remote learning. Please contact your childcare provider if you have questions regarding childcare that your child accesses at one of our schools. As we have continually messaged to our RCCDSB community, we will get through this imperfectly, together and through the grace of God.
Please continue to stay safe and stay home during the holidays, continue to take care of one another and we ask you to continue to especially pray for people affected by COVID-19 and for our health care and essential workers.
