The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that Bob Schreader and David Howard have been reinstated as Chair and Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees for the upcoming year.
Both men have dedicated many decades to serving on the Board and committees, and to accomplishing the goals and direction set out in the RCCDSB Strategic Plan.
“We will be entering our final year of the Board’s current five-year Strategic Plan and its four key pillars: Dignity and Belonging, Wholeness and Wellness, Achievement and Potential and Integrity and Witness,” stated Schreader in his remarks.
“In 2022, the senior team will incorporate the new Ministry of Education Board Improvement & Equity Plan with the Ministry Pillars of: Achievement, Human Rights & Equity, Mental Health, Well-Being & Engagement, and Pathways & Transitions,” added Schreader.
Schreader thanked all members of the RCCDSB team who pulled together and worked tirelessly to ensure the important work of teaching and learning in safe school environments characterized by warmth, hospitality, good humour and joy in the midst of a global pandemic.
He noted changes that will come about in the new year, such as the reanimation of the Board’s Vision Statement, and confirmed a focus on student achievement and potential, including work to close gaps and identify and address learning loss that occurred during multiple disruptions over the past 20 months.
At the secondary level the RCCDSB will continue to implement the de-streamed Grade 9 math program and ensure our system is ready for September 2022 when major de-streaming changes will take place with the remainder of the Grade 9 curriculum.
In addition, RCCDSB will rely on its Equity Table, Safe Schools and Mental Health teams to understand and meet the needs of all students.
“Together, we can achieve so much, and we know we have much work ahead of us,” said Schreader.
Vice-Chair Howard dedicated his service to Chair Schreader and fellow Trustees “to ensure that Our Vision and the final year of our Strategic Plan are at the centre of all our efforts in the coming year.”
